SPLIT, CROATIA

Known as “the rose of Dalmatia”, Split is the second largest city in Croatia and the largest city in the region of Dalmatia. It lies on the coast of the Adriatic Sea and is home to over 250,000 people.

The city’s origins date back to the establishment of a Greek colony in about 300 BC. It’s rich history and culture is reflected in the inspiring architecture throughout the city. Roman, Byzantine and medieval influences combine with more modern structures to create an exhilarating sense of past and present.

The vast and magnificent palace of Diocletian is something of a destination in its own right.

A favourite choice for international events, festivals and conferences, Split’s culture is eclectic with something for everyone amongst its cobbled streets and ancient and medieval buildings. Museums of all manner are dotted throughout the city and a plethora of tours are available to take you to nearby areas of great natural beauty such as the Marjan hill or the Blue caves.
